More for Julianne

I whipped up three (count 'em ... THREE!) layouts for Julianne's album today, and I like them so much I must show them off on this here blog immediately! :-)

First up is the page that will lie next to the MTC page. She doesn't have many MTC pictures since that memory card was stolen, and while I felt terrible about that at the time, I'm finding a definite silver lining now ... there's less for me to scrap! I thought I'd do a temple page since about a third of the MTC pictures that were "donated" from friends from the MTC were temple pictures.

This page came together SO fast ... seriously, I don't think I've ever scrapped something this good in under an hour before. And I like how well it turned out; I think I might have to use the technique again -- a simple page with a big impact:

Seriously Solid paper pack by Sarah Bennett (this is a freebie -- Google and grab it!)
fonts are: Susie's Hand, Traveling Typewriter, and American Typewriter (for the journaling and the line of pink dots)

And I have been a little daunted by this set of pictures from the very beginning of this project, but I think these pages turned out quite nicely.

Scrapping Friends and Relatives

Lately I've done little, if any, scrapping of my own immediate family. Between Julianne's mission album and birthdays and birth days I've come up with lots of layouts that feature other people instead. Funny thing is, I like doing those almost as much as I like doing my own.

Here's a project I did for a friend whose birthday was this week (I can now post it here without fear that it'll ruin the surprise!):

And here's a little quickie card I made up to celebrate the arrival of a new nephew:

I've done lots for my sister-in-law Julianne's album (see my previous post for more details on that):

This page was technically for me. I mean, it'll end up in my family's album and everything. But seriously, look at it: it's mostly pictures of my brother and his wife and his two (adorable!) daughters, who were visiting for the Fourth of July.

Yes, I think it's safe to say I am never going to run out of things to scrap.

But I enjoy it so much, that's a very, very good thing.

For Julianne

My mother-in-law has been asking for awhile now that I do a book for her youngest daughter, my sister-in-law Julianne, who's on a mission for our church in England. The project was too daunting for me to consider until just a few months ago. Was it Queen of Scrap contest at ScrapMatters that inspired me? The fact that I actually completed over 35 layouts during the month of May? The fact that, as part of the challenge, I actually finished the ABC album (my first real project)?

Whatever the reason, my mother-in-law's eyes got pretty wide when I started up a conversation with her last month: "if I were to do an album for Julianne..." And then, excitedly, she went into detail about what she was imagining. She piled on the praise and I was determined that I really could do this.

Well, I could do it when I had a moment. After I caught up a little.

But summertime, I've discovered, is not a time for catching up. There's too much fun to be had! Too many vacations, too many outings, too many everyday moments that look so much better in natural light. Too many memories to preserve, and too little time to preserve the memories since we're so busy making them.

So I've put my pictures aside for a moment (I'll probably go back when I need a change of pace) and started on Julie's. Here are the first three:

Cake

ScrapMatters is having a sale right now, and even though I just bought a grab bag last week, I had to go spend a few dollars over there. 30% off, like, EVERYTHING. Sheesh; how am I supposed to resist??

So here's a layout I did a few days ago. Most everything is from a kit that I won by Casey Krause, a new designer at Gotta Pixel (and she's on the Creative Team at ScrapMatters, too). This is the second time that I won something over at DigiScrap Addicts! (The first time, I won a copy of Bella Scraps ... back when Bella Scraps was a downloadable PDF.) Casey's "In the Neighborhood" kit is so cute and colorful and just perfect for two little boys.
