Two Lifts and Two Templates

I love coming up with my own composition, but I also love taking an already good composition (from a template or just a layout I've seen) and letting that jumpstart me into a layout. This post is filled with all of the latter method!

This layout I did from a template. I LOVE a good multi-photo template!

This is a lift of a layout by another scrapper -- I just loved the blocking style (blocking is such a good way to get lots of photos on a page while still looking clean and not cluttered). And the hanging elements in her original were fun -- I gave it my own little twist and put a title and date dangling from a tag on the page.

Here's another lift. The original layout was actually only a double-photo layout; I took more liberty with this lift than usual but took many of the cues from the original.

I'm especially proud of my titlework on this one!

And I've had the idea for this layout for awhile -- longer than I've had the picture for it, that's for sure. The title makes me laugh (I think it's really clever!) This is not my typical style, but I wanted to go with something very clean and graphic as though it had come out of a magazine. I spotted a template the other day that seemed like it would be perfect for the idea that was forming in my head for this layout ... and here's the result:

Usually I can't stand one-photo layouts but I don't mind it here. Why? Because, first of all, it's a good photo (hello, cute!) and second, it fills the page. I should do more like this; I really like the whole feel of the layout (and this was quick to put together, too! Yay!)

journaling reads:
Gramma Sue finds the cutest matching clothes for the boys. She bought these particular shirts at OshKosh for Easter, and while it was a bit too cold for short sleeves in April, they are perfect for summertime!

Besides the matching shirts in the picture, I can thank Gramma Sue for the corduroy pants Logan was wearing and even the navy blue ones Joshua had on (they were Logan's first). That's pretty typical, actually; Gramma Sue really does supply a good proportion of the boys' outfits every day! What can I say? She has great taste in clothes!
